Personal traits
I don't think of these as strengths or weaknesses β any trait can play for or against you depending on the context.
After a lot of reflection (and contrasting with the feedback I've received over the years), these are the traits that feel most defining to me:
- Driven: high capacity for work β when something matters to me, I keep pushing until it exists.
- Polyvalent: I've operated across very different areas (development, product, community, communication, business, strategy...), which lets me adapt fast and fill in when responsibilities aren't clearly assigned.
- Vision: I tend to spot gaps and problems before they're formally on the radar.
- Bias to materialization: I turn strategic ideas into tangible artifacts (MVPs, frameworks, initiatives).
- Ownership: I take responsibility for initiatives and can generate traction without depending on formal authority.
- Systemic thinking: I see how engineering, product, community, and business connect, and I work to reduce friction between disciplines.
- Unblocking: turning ambiguous or abstract situations into operational clarity through execution comes naturally to me.
- Patient persistence: when there's resistance, I know how to wait, iterate, and pick my battles without abandoning the direction altogether.
- Designing for scale: I try to create initiatives that others can adopt, expand, and make their own.
- Communicator: I can produce content in almost any format β articles, talks, videos, podcasts.
- Communities: years of experience building, leading, and participating in them (see open culture).
- Compounding capital: I keep, organize, and reuse ideas, materials, and frameworks so that work doesn't get lost and can evolve over time.
- Open to feedback: I generally welcome criticism of my work and use it to adjust course.
- Idea-flow / scattered: I'm creative and ideas flow easily β sometimes too easily. I might start the day asking ChatGPT about mint and end up rewriting my professional profile five hours later.
Note: this is a self-perception. If you know me and feel something is missing or off, I'd genuinely like to hear it.
